Barristerly provides a straightforward way to obtain legal advice online from an appropriately experienced Public Access barrister.

Public Access—sometimes called Direct Access—allows individuals and businesses in suitable cases to instruct a barrister without first instructing a solicitor.

You do not need to know the correct legal terminology or be certain which area of law applies. Tell us what has happened and we will use the information you provide to identify a potentially suitable barrister.

A fixed-fee online barrister consultation

For £690, including VAT, the Barristerly package provides up to two hours of the barrister’s professional time in total.

It ordinarily includes:

  • consideration of the information you provide;

  • review of up to 20 pages of the most relevant supporting documents;

  • an online consultation of up to 60 minutes; and

  • a short written summary of the principal advice and recommended next steps.

The remaining time is divided between preparation and producing the written summary at the barrister’s professional discretion.

The precise scope of the advice will be confirmed in the barrister’s client care letter. There are no hidden charges and no obligation to purchase further legal services.

How Barristerly works

1. Choose an appointment

Select the area of law that most closely matches your problem and choose an available appointment.

2. Tell us about your case

Complete a short form explaining what has happened, the questions you want answered and the names of the parties involved.

Your appointment is provisional while the barrister completes the necessary conflict and suitability checks.

3. Speak to your barrister online

If the instruction is accepted, the barrister will confirm the work to be undertaken, consider your information in advance and meet you online. A short written summary will follow the consultation.

The Barristerly package is a focused, limited-scope service. It is designed to address particular questions rather than provide a comprehensive review of an entire case file. If additional legal work is needed, any further service, fee and timescale must be agreed separately in advance.
