Case Review & Written Summary

Fixed fee: £750, including VAT

Obtain focused advice from an experienced Public Access barrister about a legal problem requiring advance consideration of information and supporting documents.

The service provides up to two hours of the barrister’s professional time overall.

What is included?

Subject to the questions accepted by the barrister, the service ordinarily includes:

  • advance consideration of the information you provide;

  • review of up to 20 pages of the most relevant supporting documents;

  • an online consultation of up to 60 minutes; and

  • a short written summary of the principal advice and recommended next steps.

The available time is divided between preparation, the consultation and producing the written summary at the barrister’s professional discretion.

Is this the right service for you?

This service may be suitable where you need help to:

  • understand your legal position;

  • assess the strengths and weaknesses of a claim or defence;

  • interpret an important agreement, notice or document;

  • decide how to respond to a legal demand or dispute;

  • consider whether a matter is worth pursuing;

  • identify possible remedies or procedural options; or

  • decide what practical steps to take next.

It is a focused, limited-scope service. It is not intended to provide a comprehensive review of an entire case file or to include extensive investigation, substantial drafting, the conduct of proceedings or representation at a hearing.

Before requesting an appointment

You will be asked to provide:

  • a concise account of the relevant background;

  • the questions you would like the barrister to address;

  • the names of all relevant parties for conflict checks;

  • details of any existing proceedings or important deadlines; and

  • no more than 20 pages of the most relevant supporting documents.

Please select your documents carefully. The barrister may ask you to narrow your questions or documents if the matter cannot be considered properly within the available time.

Your request remains provisional until the barrister has completed the necessary conflict and suitability checks and confirmed that the instruction has been accepted.
